There is no doubt that Christmas is rolled out earlier and earlier each year. This is particularly true when it comes to retailers. If you look around, you can find some stores displaying Christmas decor and products in October or even in September. Years ago, maybe in the early 2000s or 1990s,  store would not even think about putting up anything Christmas related until after October 31.

While Christmas is important to me, pulling out the Christmas cheer too early makes it lose some of it magic. It also takes away from the other holidays, Halloween and Thanksgiving, when too much emphasis is placed on Christmas.

A good question for all of you is when do you start to decorate for Christmas in your home? As much as I love putting up the Christmas lights, the tree, and all the other decor, I force myself to wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving. That is when we decorated when I was a kid and that tradition was brought into my home.

When it comes to stores, I think November 1st is a good time to have the Christmas decor ready for sale. This gives customers plenty of time to find the latest decoration that will fit well in their home. It is also not too early to exhaust people with what seems like endless Christmas joy.

I am certain that there are many people out there that decorate much earlier than me. Feel free to leave a comment to let me know when you start!
