Love them or hate them, Christmas laser lights seem to be here to stay. In case you are unfamiliar with these type of lights, let me breifly explain what they are.
Christmas laser lights are not hung on your house like traditional Christmas lights. Instead, a projector that is placed in your yard shoots laser onto your house to make a display of lights.
The display can often cover all or most of the front of an average sized American home. The farther you move the projector away from your home, within reason, the larger the display area.
What is displayed depends on the projector you buy. You can view a nice selection of the best Christmas laser lights and what they display here at Peak Yard. Common images displayed are Santa, red & green dots, snowflakes, snowmen, bells, reindeer, and Christmas trees.
There is no doubt that these type of lights have massively gained in popularity over recent years. This is partly because you no longer have to spend your weekend up on a ladder putting your safety at risk to hang traditional bulb lights.
Additionally, these projectors are somewhat inexpensive at about $50.00 or under. When you compare this cost to the projector cost and labor time of traditional lights, the laser lights are often the cheaper option.
Of course, you have to enjoy the look of Christmas laser lights to want to display them over the holiday season. There are many people who stand by their traditional lights and see projectors as tacky. Others see these projectors as an innovative product that produces beautiful lights with much of a hassle.
What do I think of these laser lights? I think it all depends on the type of projector you buy. It is important to buy one that displays the images you will want to see for years to come. There are a lot of options out there so will likely find something that fits your taste.
I personally have considered getting a laser light projector despite my love for traditional holiday decorating. My eventually goal is to display the laser lights on only a portion of my house while keeping the traditional lights in the mix as well. Basically, I want to use the laser lights as an accent to my traditional lights. I don't think anything will ever replace of love for traditional lights.
Overall, I truly see the appeal of wanting to simply turn on the projector and be done with it. I suspect some people rather have traditional lights but just go with only the projector to make things easy. That is, of course, perfectly okay.
I see Christmas laser lights as just another piece in the extremely long list of Christmas decorating items. They have their place and likely will continue to be around for years to come. However, I do not see them ever completely taking over for the traditional Christmas lights that so many be enjoy.
In closing, I should note that that these laser projectors are sometimes used beyond the Christmas season for things like accent lighting in a garden or at a wedding. You should keep this versatility in mind if you are thinking about buying one. Your ability to use the projector outside of Christmas will largely depend on the display that can be projected.
Let me know your thought on Christmas laser lights. Is this something you would put on display in your yard or are you more of a traditional lights type of person?
